This is the EF 70-300mmL, EF 1.4X III Extender, attached to the EOS R5 using the Canon EF-RF adapter. Screen cap of shot in DPP 4. Image was taken with a 5D mark IV, EF 70-300mmL, using the EF 1.4X III extender at 420mm even though EXIF says 300mm. This is 1 of 2 just to show that it is actually zooming to 420mm. 12-19-2023 12:06 PM. l though I can get a used 1.4x for about $240 or so on ebay or other places. Again jsut wanna make sure my 70-200 mark ii lens and 5d miv body is compatible and will work well with the 1.4x mark iii or even mark ii which ever I decide based on you all's recommendation. 12-19-2023 02:21 PM. The following are a couple of images shot in the rather dimly lit space, using available light, hand-held. R6 Rf 24-240@ 24mm, f/6.3, 1/80sec, ISO-250 R6 24-105@ 24mm, f/6.3, 1/4sec, ISO-250 R6, RF 24-105@50mm, f/6.3, 1/2sec, ISO-250. In conclusion: The RF 24-240 strength is as a brilliant compact solution to covering a very wide focal range Two things: First, a tele-extender not only changes the focal length by its multiplier factor, but ALSO the aperture by the multiplier factor. That means 300mm and f/5.6 with a 2x becomes 600mm and f/11; with a 1.4x it becomes a 420mm and f/8. Your camera's autofocus system will not work correctly at f/8 nor f/11 -- it's not enough light.

"The Canon 70-300 L is officially NOT compatible with Canon extenders. This is the only Canon L zoom lens with a widest focal length of 70mm or longer that is not compatible with Canon extenders (as of review time). I've tried mounting Canon extenders to the 70-300 L - and they do not fit. Canon Extenders are available in two strengths, 1.4x and 2x. As the names suggest, the 1.4x Extender increases the focal length of your lens by a factor of 1.4, and the 2x by a factor of 2. Canon EF Extenders are designed for use with a number of telephoto and zoom EF lenses. They do not work with EF-S or EF-M lenses.
In general 2X teleconverters and extenders are only recommended for f/2.8 or faster lenses. Some bodies (most of the 1D series, the 5D Mark III, and the 7D Mark II) can use the center AF point with f/8 lens/extender combinations. But the narrower PDAF baseline of the APS-C cameras makes this much more difficult than for their full frame The Canon EF 2x II Extender is an easy and very affordable way to dramatically extend the reach (focal length) of compatible Canon L Series lenses (and a few additional lenses). This review will sound very similar to the Canon 1.4x Extender Review, but the 2x function is basically the same. The Canon EF 2x II Extender mounts between the R5 with EF 100-400 is ii and 2x extender. Did a quick test with this setup today and was happy with the results. EF 100-400 is ii and 2x multiplier, tested just at 800mm. A few things I noticed. If it’s on a tripod and IS is on it will blur the picture. I know it’s common practice to turn IS off when on a tripod but this is the first time I 7tsj5.
