Intermittent Starting Problems. Asked by RRising Dec 28, 2014 at 01:15 PM about the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD. Question type: Maintenance & Repair. Sport with 93000 miles recently developed an intermittent starting problemwill start and run fine and all of a sudden will crank but won't start but after a few tries and it sets for a minute
For probably about a year now, we've had a very intermittent issue where during normal driving, the pedal will lose pressure and go to the floor while stopping. It's happened maybe 4-5 times during the past year, and each time the symptoms will last anywhere from a few stops, to a couple days. Afterwards the normal pedal feel will return.
2014 Ford Focus SE with 68,000 miles and garaged in evening. New battery, new starter, new starter and ignition relays. No start in park or neutral. No codes and everything on dash works. Intermittent no start still. Incredibly frustrating. Of course that is after multiple flashes of dual clutch.I have a 2008 Ford Focus, automatic, with a intermittent no crank no start problem. I have replaced the ignition switch which seemed to correct the issue but after a few months the problem is back. The battery is good and charged. The car has full electrical power and the anti theft light is not flashing. This can be fixed in seconds by unbolting the battery ground, removing some paint on the mating surface, and rebolting the ground. Add some grease or paint to the excess exposed metal after this to avoid rusting. My transmission, the imfamous DPS6, kept putting me on the side of the road if the engine went over 2k rpm.
Finally figured this out for my 2014 Ford Focus SE, intermittent at first then permanently wouldn't start. The root cause is likely this: it's a broken fuse, intermittent voltage to BCM. If you run a BCE test, U3006. Pinpoint test BCM Supply circuits. Found mega fuse #9 broken, this has been causing intermittent voltage to BCM.

I have a 2012 focus SE with an intermittent no start no crank. I've noticed that it starts when the P on the gearshift indicator is lit. Sometimes it is not lit and at that point it will no start.
The car starts about 9 out of 10 times. I have put a new starter/solenoid, battery, fuel filter, ignition cylinder switch in, checked and cleaned grounds and other wires running to and from battery, all fuses are good, all relays are good, checked alternator, even put a new ignition coil in for giggles. The ABS light turns on rather randomly. Sometimes it stays off for months. Sometimes it turns on and of multiple times per day. It's a Ford Focus 1.8 tdci from 2004, 100 HP. I did check the following: brake fluid level and cap checked (replaced with one from another car to see if the problem disappears, it didn't)
